Presently TeachCS supports (i.e., matches teachers to and/or funds teachers fellowships for) five courses – three based of the AP CSP framework (Beauty and Joy of Computing, Mobile CSP, Thriving in Our Digital World), along with Exploring Computer Science, and Bootstrap. Each of these courses are funded by the National Science Foundation and each has a track record of success in the classroom.
There are many other solid professional development courses for teachers who would like to become computer science teachers. A few we like include:
Building on the Harvard CS50 course, CS50 AP Computer Science Principles by Professor David J. Malan, and funded by Microsoft, CS50 is a a year-long course for secondary school educators and students. CS50 maps to the College Board’s new AP Computer Science Principles Framework. Educator professional development opportunities are available through Harvard Extension School and Microsoft.
- CS Principles for High School by the University of Alabama
- Project Lead the Way
- CSEdOhio at Cleveland State
